Final Postings

I really enjoyed this class. I guess this will be the last official posting for grading before class is over but I hope that this blog will still be available in case if any of us might like to check up on eachother. Probably no one cares but it would be nice to have this blog open. Just in Case, if we ever have questions for Andrew? Or if we might just like to keep in touch? LOL. Alright. Have a great break and holiday class. Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

Readings

I have discovered (well, actually a while back) that many of the readings such as "Blackberry articles, Tragedy of the Commons, Tic for tac, etc. are mentioned in many of my other classes. Also the Ted website of speakers are used by many professors in many classes. It's kinda nice that everything has a connection. But I learned a lot more about it and more in dept in this class than any other, for now. Hahah. How long will D2L be available for? I have to get a flashdrive to save the readings on it otherwise I might just save it on a CD for now or a file on the computer.

Top Photo's of 2010

This is a great collection highlighting some of the most incredible events of 2010. As a photographer myself, I relay enjoyed them and it was a great reminder as to some of the events that took place in the past 11 months. Some seem like a lot longer than that and I had already forgotten.

TSA Gone Wild Part 4

Here is a compilation of the best TSA screw ups in 2008. As you can see the stories we see almost daily today are not a new thing for the TSA.

TSA Gone Wild Part 3

Boy do I feel much safer now that the TSA strip searched an 85 year old lady. Thank you TSA for keeping me safe with your common sense approach. (Sarcasm)

Thank you for focusing your resources on people like this poor lady who had to endure so much humiliation instead of looking for the real national security risks.

TSA Gone Wild Part 2

Nothing like a golden shower at the airport. How embarrassing for this guy.

TSA Gone Wild Part 1

The TSA has been doing a lot recently to raise suspicion as to their effectiveness. It seems common sense has gone out the window. Here is the first story in a series I have titled, TSA Gone Wild to illustrate just how much the TSA has over stepped it's boundaries.

City Living Tied to More Anxiety, Mood Disorders

WEDNESDAY, June 22 (HealthDay News) -- People who are born and raised in cities have a greater lifetime risk for anxiety and mood disorders due to the impact that city living appears to have on two brain regions that regulate emotion and stress, a new international study indicates.

The findings may lead to new ways to improve the quality of life for city dwellers, according to the researchers.

Previous studies found that urban residents have a 21 percent increased risk for anxiety disorders and a 39 percent increased risk for mood disorders. They also have nearly twice the rate of schizophrenia compared to people who don't live in cities, said study co-author Jens Pruessner, of the Douglas Mental Health University Institute in Montreal.

I don't know if I have enough blog posts.

I am just filling the blog with useless stuff right now, which is what I always kind of do. I like the marijuana surveys. I do not have a personal interest either way, but I do not see how it is not legal by now. Sure in some states like CO, CA you can obtain medical marijuana but federal supersedes state law. The government needs to tax it, and regulate it. The taxes alone would be huge. And drinkingwithbob was wrong. The government is not making money off keeping marijuana illegal. Our prisons are filled with primarily drug offenses, costing the taxpayer, the state, and the country billions each year. Granted, most of those drug offenses are not for marijuana, but the point is still the same. Our justice system is not providing "rehabilitation". It is just providing a breeding ground of aggression, and hopelessness. It seems to me that the justice system is set up for the parolee to fail, and re-offend. No real skills are being offered in prison nor adequate drug treatment. I know I "tumbled" off the topic, sorry. To me it just seems that benefits of marijuana far outweigh the consequences. Though I do see the issue with preventing driving while intoxicated. This is a hard one, since there is no instant test, and it would take an elaborate process to determine the time frame of when a person used. But I'm sure something could be figured out.

I am sad.

Class is over, and I am sad that I do not have to blog anymore. I guess I can just do it somewhere else since I have the skills now.
